Welcome back listeners. The topic for this episode is one I’ve puzzled over for countless hours.

Is Monogamy Natural?

Is it natural for humans to mate for life? Is polygamy the answer to happiness? Can monogamy work?

I don’t know if we’ll ever find the “right” answer, but we do dive into some deep waters here.

I’m not sure it makes sense to have just one partner, certainly not for life. but i think when in a relationship, one is the way to go. and then, re-evaluate every coupla years or so…

Honestly, I think it’s what most committed people do (hence the high divorce rate). I think committing to one person for 40-50 some odd years sounds good on paper but what happens when they turn into someone you would NEVER want to be with? The idea of forever sounds good when one of you doesn’t have any agency in the marriage (i.e. the stereotypical image of the 1950s housewife who doesn’t work and is dedicated solely to rearing children) but maybe that model needs a bit of updating now that times or so vastly different.
